Money will be awarded to young people who embody the same values and drive that made Kevin so special to all of us — passion for helping others, incredible gift for making genuine connections, and unwavering support for those he loved. Recipients will also reflect Kevin’s strong work ethic, paired with his natural ability to find joy in life — whether it was spending time with family and friends, golfing, skiing, or simply being outdoors. He had a way of making others happy, and nothing brought him more joy than seeing the people around him thrive.

Kevin was a loyal and devoted member of the Norwell community for 23 years, where he built a loving family and a successful life. He was especially dedicated to the Norwell schools, regularly attending sporting events, forming lasting friendships, and giving back whenever he could. His presence and generosity left a meaningful impact on the community he was proud to call home.
At a time when many students question their worth and value, the power of advocacy, connection, and support can change the trajectory of young lives. These qualities help those who need it most discover confidence in their unique strengths and believe in themselves. The Kevin Schiller Scholarship for graduating seniors of Norwell High School honors this legacy by celebrating students whose actions consistently bring kindness, joy, connection, and support to others.

In addition to financial reward, the selected student will also receive: support building a best in class resume customized to their area of interest, networking & interviewing skills, and a financial mentor from Fidelity to help that student with additional support navigating the field of finance from class selections to career guidance.

Kevin Schiller was a proud member of the Simsbury High School Class of 1989 and left a lasting impact on his school and community. As captain of the 1988 Varsity soccer team, Kevin demonstrated strong leadership, dedication, and sportsmanship, earning the respect of both his teammates and coaches. In addition to soccer, he was also a member of the Varsity golf team, further reflecting his commitment to athletics and teamwork.

Beyond his athletic achievements, Kevin was an honor roll student who balanced academics and sports with determination and discipline. He was known not only for his work ethic and drive but also for his kindness and character. Kevin was considered a great friend to everyone—someone who was supportive, inclusive, and always willing to encourage others.

The Kevin Schiller Scholarship was established in his memory to honor students graduating from Simsbury High School who embody the same values Kevin lived by. This scholarship recognizes students who participate in athletics while demonstrating leadership, integrity, commitment, and a positive impact on those around them. Each year, the award is presented to two student-athletes who exemplify Kevin’s spirit, passion, and dedication, ensuring that his legacy continues to inspire future generations at Simsbury High School.
The River Fund Maine is focused on offering families and their students within western Maine the chance to discover what's possible, and believe in their ability to achieve their dreams.

They believe education helps to unlock future success, so they create unique programs that empower youth to build fulfilling careers, not just to endure jobs. Utilizing the community's recreational resources to foster leadership, teamwork, and collaboration skills, they invest in the future of this beautiful place which depends on the support they give its people today to achieve their aspirations.

More specifically, the Kevin Schiller Scholarship will award a graduating senior in High School a trade scholarship. The River Fund Maine has worked with local students to support their attainment of a trades school diploma, an associates degree or a BA/BS from a four-year college or university. It will focus on enabling local youth to achieve their educational and career-oriented aspirations. The objective is to assist talented students in developing an education plan that leads to a fulfilling and rewarding career, not just a job. The River Fund Maine especially encourages recipients to envision, and prepare themselves for, careers in the trades and entrepreneurial and leadership roles in our region.
Kevin was a loyal supporter of the Medical Missions for Children Foundation for more than 10 years. He became deeply interested in the cause and was especially drawn to the idea of joining a volunteer trip. Over the years, he became an avid attendee of charity events, always eager to support the mission and connect with others who shared this passion.

The foundation’s mission—to provide free surgical, dental, rehabilitative, and nutritional care to impoverished children and young adults in countries throughout the underdeveloped world, and to establish sustainable centers of surgical care in the communities where we are privileged to serve—deeply resonated with Kevin.
​
He believed in the power of this work to change lives and was inspired by its focus on creating long-term, sustainable impact. His commitment went beyond words; it was rooted in a genuine desire to bring healing and hope to those who needed it most.
